Brief History :
R.N.Samani Vidyalaya is a reputed primary school of The New Education Society’ in Kolhapur. The school was established in 1956. Initially it was named as ‘New High School Primary School [II]‘. Then it was named as ‘R.N.Samani Vidyalaya’ in the memory of Late Mr.Ramadas Narayandas Samani, the great Industrialist who offered rich funds for the noble cause of education.Mr.Hativlekar , Mr.Yadnopavit , Mr.Herlekar, Mr.Babasaheb Chavan and Shrimati Mangala Gurav were the successful headmasters of the school who raised the glory of the school in Kolhapur. Mrs.Shashikala Shete is the present Head Mistress of the school.
Landmarks and The Present Status :
In tne beginning , there were only 20 boys and 16 girls [Total 36] enrolled in the school. But now it is flourised and the present strength is 1322 [ 743 boys and 579 girls ] There is a separate unit for the Deaf and Dumb students in the school under the central scheme for Integrated Education.
The school has well trained teachers and non-teaching staff as well. The school has big building with spacious rooms and a big play ground. There is a library and a well-equipped computer section.The school pays special attention to the versatile development of its students by arranging all types of educational and cultural programmes.
Major Achievements :
The school conducts various competitive examinations like Middle School Scholarship [ for Std.IV] , M.T.S and T.S.E. [ for Std III]. The school has a glorious tradition of best results in such examinations. Every year the school tops the merit list of the State Middle School Scholarship Examination.
