Sou.S.M. Lohia Jr. College & Vocational Section
The Jr.College was started in 1975, with two Science, two Commerce and one Arts divisions of XIth Class. Now the Jr.College has 10 divisions of Science Section, 4 divisions of Commerce and 2 divisions of Arts section. The subjects like Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Auto are being taught along with regular subjects.
Minimum Competency Vocational Courses :
The MCVC wing of this Jr.College runs commercial courses like Accountancy and Auditing, Marketing and Salesmanship, Building Maintenance, Store Keeping, Banking and Office Management. These Courses provide the students Scope for further degree education. According to the Apprentice Act, these students get a stipend of Rs.600 per month.
Major Achievements :
- The Hockey team, under 19 years, has been selected for State Level Tournaments for the last 30 years since 1981. The Hockey had made a hatrick of Championship winning State level final matches in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
- More than 100 students have been selected for the National Level Competitions in Football, Hockey, Athletics and individual games.
- Richi Fernandes selected for International Tournaments and Kapil Nalang for International Swimming Competitions, at Malasia and Hongkong respectively
- Dr.Narayan Jivaji Karne, the internationally famous orthopedic doctor ( who treated Sachin Tendulkar ) is the past student of this Jr.College
- Miss Swaroopa Barve stood first in the HSC examination 2010, in Arts faculty.
- Rajesh Hajare and Dhananjay Patil are the past students who have proved their performance in Ranaji and Dulip Trophy matches.
- Nitin Wadikar and Dinesh Budhale have achieved reputation as industrialists.
